SEO for Beauty and Personal Care

Goal:

My big plan was to get tons more people visiting the store through Google searches for beauty things in India. Here’s what we wanted to do:

  1. More Clicks and Views: Make more folks click on the store and have it pop up more in search results.
  2. Better Click Rate: Fix the store’s listings so they’re hard to resist clicking. We started at a measly 1.4% click rate and wanted to bump it up.
  3. Higher Up on Google: Push the store’s pages closer to the top spots. The average spot was 13.3—way too low!
  4. Keep Growing: Set up the store to keep getting more visitors for a long time, not just a quick win.Get more visits from search engines.

Problems Found:

When I checked out the store’s SEO, I saw some big roadblocks slowing it down. These probs are pretty normal, but they were a real pain for this store:

  • Keywords Hiding: The store didn’t show up for searches like “best skincare in India” or “organic beauty stuff.” That meant not many people saw it.
  • Messy Pages: The page titles and descriptions didn’t use the right words or grab attention, so only 1.4% of folks clicked.
Tech Troubles: The site was slow as a snail, pics didn’t load fast, and it wasn’t great on phones. Google hates that!
  • Few Links: Not many other sites linked to the store, making it look less legit to Google.
  • No Extra Info: There was no blog or tips to pull in people looking for beauty advice – just product pages.
Bad Rankings: Most pages were stuck on Google’s second page, where nobody looks.

What We Did:

To tackle these issues and hit our targets, we made a killer SEO plan just for this store and India’s beauty fans. Here’s how we rolled:

  • Finding Keywords:We hunted for easy-to-rank words people search a lot, like “natural skincare India” or “best makeup for Indian skin.” Then, we sprinkled those words into product names, blurbs, and even pic descriptions to help the store show up more.
  • Fixing Pages:
We jazzed up the store’s pages to work better for Google and shoppers:
    – Rewrote titles and blurbs with the right words and fun phrases, jumping the click rate from 1.4% to 3.3%.
    – Added special code to show stars and prices in search results, making them pop out.
    – Sped up pics by shrinking them and added descriptions, boosting SEO and making the site snappy.
  • Tech Tweaks: We fixed the techy stuff so the site ran smooth and worked on phones:
    – Cut load times by 30% with Shopify tricks and smaller pics. Google loves speed!
    – Made sure it looked awesome on mobiles, since tons of folks in India shop that way.
    – Fixed broken links, added redirects, and sent Google a site map so it could find everything easy peasy.
  • Starting a Blog:
We kicked off a blog with posts like “Top Skincare Tips for Indian Skin” and “Why Organic Beauty Rocks.” These pulled in people hunting for tips and sent them to the store’s products.
  • Grabbing Links:We got other sites to link to the store to boost its cred:
    – Wrote posts for big beauty blogs in India.
    – Teamed up with influencers to talk about products, bringing in visitors and looking good to Google.
    – Added the store to Indian directories for a local boost. The store didn’t show up for searches like “best skincare in India” or “organic beauty stuff.” That meant not many people saw it.

The Outcome

We watched the numbers in Google Search Console. After six months, it was wild:

  1. Clicks: Shot up from 359K to 1.6M—a 350% jump!
  2. Views: Climbed from 26.4M to 48.1M, showing the store was everywhere in searches.
  3. Click Rate: Went from 1.4% to 3.3%, so more folks clicked what they saw.
  4. Rankings: Average spot improved from 13.3 to 12.4, getting closer to the top.
  5. Clicks spiked around day 125—our work plus some beauty season trends probably helped!
